Yeah but I’m not a rockstar … so how the _______ can I do this stuff and still win?

Morning!

I’ve just peeled my eyelids open after participating in
Live the Dream II here in Orlando for the last 3 days.

Given the amount of info swimming through my brain,
3 days is almost too much.

Almost.

And I’ve been thinking about it this morning ….

It’s kind of like this immersion thing – to get the most
out of an event like this you really need to have this
‘to the brink of overload’ situation to get the best
measure of yourself and where your own interests
and weaknesses really lie.

I’m there.

Clarity is always the biggest gift for me.

And I’m coming down off this weekend with a
bucket load of it.

After watching nearly 20 people (? Not exactly
sure – I very lost count lol) deliver their best
stuff (or at least what should have been) ….
12 of whom are well known in the industry …
my biggest personal take-away is this.

Yes there are foundational skills and a certain
posture that we all need to hone and adopt.

Posture is huge. Posture opens doors – of all
kinds. Posture can absolutely be learned.

But in the end the only ‘right’ way to build
a business – YOUR business – is to find a way
that sets you up building the muscles that need
to be built…

Not to impress anyone past your own skin … but
rather to be the “star” of your own life – which may
or may not actually include becoming a “Rockstar”
(on purpose).

More importantly, the perfect path for you will
get you feeling confident in the areas that you feel
you are ‘lacking’.

Truth is you’re not lacking and it’s not your
fault. You just haven’t had the right info presented
in a way that’s custom to you.

You haven’t had someone who was really willing
to dig in deep and work in concert, listening to
and helping you navigate the fire hose flow
of information that is all around and pin point
the tiny (everything that hangs us up is “tiny”
to someone) ‘stuff’ that is preventing you from
moving forward and you maybe don’t even know
exactly what it is.

Just like there’s an ‘ass for every seat’ – I’m coming
To realize that there’s a ‘coach for every student’.

And that being a shiny “Rockstar” is really only one
way to get there – there are so many other Unique to
You ways that you can become a ‘Rockstar’ …

My friend Theresa calls me a ‘Rockstar … in a matte
artsy kinda way’ … and that was probably the
first time I could comfortably see myself as anything
remotely connected to the word Rockstar.

Turns out we are all Rockstars – and we can choose
(really we owe it to ourselves and to the world) to
do it “our way” and no other way. Without letting
fears rule the choices that we make.

Tons of good info danced its way across the
stage – some I really connected with and some
which truly just left me flat…

And what I saw was that at the end, when
each person did their pitch … everyone … without
exception … had buyers who wanted what they
had.

Every single one.

An ass for every seat and a student for every teacher.

Super clear that 20 people and me will find each other
before the end of the year (probably sooner) …

And make beautiful marketing music together.

Am concocting our venue and our plan J

a good fit for you.

I appreciate you!

    Hello,
I guess that I can compare myself to a hungry fish. I am allways chasing fishing lures without any barbs on the hook. Just when I am about to be landed in the net…I flip off and get ready to chase anothe lure that flashes ocross my email screen. I believe Andrea that you have that certain lure with a good barb on the hook to catch me and hold my attention to finally accomplish something :-) Either that or I need a bridle and a halter and wear a blinder to keep me headed in the right direction with your wonderful help. :-)
Looking back; when I was a youngster I had a choice where I could have been a Rock Star in the Elvis generation. But it all came to making a wrong decision!
My mother wanted me to take voice lessons to sing Opera . I said NO and quit :-(

Ah yes the Rockstar (in an artsy Matte kinda way) – I remember your first webinar Andrea. Where did the time go??? All I can say is… you’ve demonstrated how it is possible to take one thing (that’s one of many things you do) and turn it into a huge revenue stream.

Imagine if we’d all pick ONE THING – and then leverage that knowledge or skill into something great. Just when it seemed like you were comfortable coaching – you did the big reveal and stepped out side of your own comfort zone (in one of Daegan Smith’s contests). Leaders lead by example and great coach/mentors help people do the same thing. I already know you’re a Rockstar because you build ROCKSTARS – (I got dibs on front row seats at the concert btw!) – To your infinite success my friend:) Boom! – tkey

UH-HUH! You ARE a Rockstar Andrea! Thanks so much for our skype session yesterday. It got me thinking a lot about my online marketing game and you helped me to make more than one major decision that will help to push me forward because of that meeting. Thank you. Thank you for being who you are. And I’m so glad we stayed connected since 2009! I am truly grateful for having you in my life.

Insightful post Andrea, kinda reminds me of the statement “you are a leader when you decide you are a leader”. Let’s connect soon! Todd

    Andrea,
This post defines me so much…
As a “student” because you have been that
perfect “I get you” coach for me.
The road to coach people in a way that’s true
to myself & personality but still pour out
value to others has been a growing process
for me this year, but it has brought many
    valuable lessons too.
I’m ready to rock-n-roll with you as we head
    into 2012!!

Great post Andrea, there’s plenty of us who don’t feel the need to be rockstar always in the limelight, but still have lots of value to give to the people we connect with in our own unique way. Looking forward to hearing what other insights you’ve had from the event!
