Policies & Procedures … What a PAIN!

Well, seems like I spend a lot of time talking to people about Policies and Procedures. And trust me, it’s not ’cause I like it especially.

Boring snoring if you ask me ….

However, Policies & Procedures are effectively our ‘distributor contracts’ … it’s that box that you rush to check off or that paper you sign … usually without reading it … in order to activate your distributorship. BIG MISTAKE.

Yeah, I know they’re boring as snot. And they often come with disclaimers about “the company can revise at will”, however, you are agreeing to them and it is *the law* for the moment.

You can also get a pretty good feel for where the company’s head is at as far as how they feel about their relationship with their distributors.

  • Do they set restrictions that make the distributorship a ‘JOB’?
  • Is it more their intention to support independant business owners?
  • Or are they just flat out in it for themselves??

You’ll find all kinds.

I’m gonna take this post to spotlight a point in a well known company’s P&P that shouts the first point … they clearly want to OWN you and everyone you bring to the company and restrict your access for other business discussions from everyone that not only you but the folks in your family might happen to talk to who are already customers.

Here’s the section I’m talking about…. and something on this order can be found in many P&P’s.

This is a company that also has other drawbacks like a monthly new customer quota … but that’s another conversation.

You might ask what’s wrong with this … and the answer is nothing, if you’re looking for a job. Nothing at all.

However, if you’re anything like me, you eventually want the option of an auto-pilot residual income … that’s the whole attraction for me.

New business quotas, required attendance at company functions, ‘ongoing’ training of downline stipulations DO NOT equal being able to take off and do something totally different if I want to.

What’s it sound like to you?
